IS REALLY RAM SPEED EFFECTS GAMING PERFORMANCE?

Let's discover what is a RAM and how it works?

RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY aka RAM is one of the most important component for your gaming build. It becomes more and more important than before thanks to optimizations for their speed and latencies.

Most of the games (i will not write about the programs now, may be next article) are optimised for the benefits of RAMs. But really, is it matters to a good memory module? Is it effecting gaming performance that much?

Simple answer is "YES IT IS".

A RAM module is the bridge between your CPU and execution modules (SSD, HDD and even GPU). So how much the RAM is fast, tasking is as fast as it is.

There is a very good article regarding the workflow of a RAM unit an you can read the details from this link. I am not here to teach you the RAM modules introtechnical details, we will focus what kind of RAM modules to choose a better gaming experience. This guide will lead you to choose a good price/performance slot for your budget.

BEFORE CHOOSING A RAM?

The main step here to choose your RAM module for your CPU architechture. If you are using an INTEL CPU you have to focus RAM latency (CL xx) instead of speed. If you have an AMD CPU, then the main priority is to be RAM speed.

AMD Ryzen CPUs are taking great benefits from high speed RAM modules. Alway choose DDR4 3000+ modules for AMD builds (It is limited to your motherboard support, so be careful for that).

Intel Processors are little bit different due to their complex design and architecture. To choose the correct RAM here module is to choose the lowest latency RAMs. Most common DDR4 RAM modules loaded with CL16 latency timings which is fine, but the best is to find CL4 timig RAMs. This will ake a huge diffrence for gaming and general performance of your build. These are relatively expensive and not easy to find to buy but well worth it.

Of course for both AMD and INTEL platforms, if you can afford high speed and low CL modules, this will be the top notch and cherry on the pie.

Have a nice gaming experience!
